Miranda LeQuire (Maggie, Nora, Edna)-Miranda is excited to be doing her first play at Spark Theater. She could last be seen as holding a gun, as the Stepdaughter, in the ending scene of Six Characters in Search of an Author. She’s also played everything from the Flower in The Nutcracker, to a prostitute in Edgar, to a Ghost in the short film Internal. When she’s not acting she, like her current character Maggie, enjoys a good beer (or any beer) with good friends. She’d like to thank Roger and Maru for this incredible opportunity to work at such a dynamic theater.
Christina “Kiso” Kyle (Polly)-Kiso is back in the theater world after taking time off to complete grad school to become a teacher. She was last seen working with the 73rd Avenue Theater Company in multiple roles. Her favorites were directing Bent and appearing onstage as Toinette in The Imaginary Invalid. She has worked with other theaters in Denver and around the country. Kiso is a graduate of the Hastings College theater program and holds a B.A. in theater. She is very happy for the opportunity to work with the Spark Theater.
Amy Shaffner (Ellen)-Amy is fulfilling her childhood dream of being an actor. She has studied acting at The Denver Center, Benjy Dobrin Studios, The Acting Studio and currently attends classes at the Film Acting Academy of Denver to further her training. Her previous roles include the lead in the play, Aunt Abby’s Secret Recipe and a supporting role in the play, Six Characters in Search of an Author. She has also acted in supporting and lead roles in independent short films. She most recently wrote, directed, produced and acted in her first short film, The Note, which premiered at the Colorado Independent Women of Film Festival in August. This is her first production with Spark and second time working with Director Maru Garcia. She is very excited to be a part of the regional premiere of The Gut Girls!
Kati Oltyan (Priscilla, Costume Designer)-Kati grew up doing a little bit of everything at the McConnellstown Playhouse in McConnellstown, PA. Previous acting credits include Murdered to Death, Lend Me a Tenor, Quilters, Brigadoon and Steel Magnolias. Previous costuming credits include Sideshow, The Sound of Music, and the recent productions of Laura and Much Ado About Nothing, right here at Spark!
Katie Swisher (Annie, Emily, Eady)-Katie will be graduating in May from Metropolitan State University with a Bachelors degree in Business Management and a minor in Biology and a minor in Chemistry. She is a District Manager for Snap North LLC. a franchise of Subway. Katie loves theater and has been doing it since high school. She has been in many productions such as plays, musicals, improvisation, and operas.
Alicia Leeper (Kate)-This is Alicia’s first performance with Spark Theater. She has been a part of the Denver Theater Community for over 10 years doing a variety of projects to include; film, commercials,staged theater and improv comedy. She is very excited to be part of this production and looks forward to future endeavors with the Spark Theater family.
Judy Wolf (Lady Helena)-This is Judy’s second show at Spark Theater. She also does improv and sketch comedy in Denver and will performing in Spark’s comedy show The Christmas Candle Burns this season as well. Judy performed in the theater many years ago and has recently returned to acting this year and is having the time of her life! She is honored to be playing Lady Helena in Gut Girls with such an amazing group of actors.
Dustin M. Carlson (Arthur, Jim)-Dustin Carlson is no stranger to the Denver stage. He was last seen in The Importance of Being Earnest at the 73rd Avenue Theatre. Mr Carlson holds a masters in theatre education from the University of Northern Colorado. He is excited to be directing The Velveteen Rabbit here at Spark Theatre in November.
Bill Thompson (Len, Harry)-Bill Thompson has appeared on stage at the Evergreen Players and the Vintage, Spotlight, and 73rd Avenue theatres. His play Billy the Poet won several awards. His favorite role was as Colonel Pickering in Pygmalion. Bill would like to thank Roger and Maru for this opportunity and Mary for her patience with my theatre absences.
Carmine DePaulo (Edwin, Mad Jacko)-Carmine has performed in 13 theatrical plays, 9 independent short films, and 1 feature film over the last 13 years. He began his acting career at the age of 50, wanting to experience what actors undergo saying lines written by someone like myself in playwriting classes. He auditioned for and landed the role of George in Glengarry Glen Ross produced in 2000 by Detour Productions, in Bloomington, IN. The highlight of his acting career was performing the lead character, Joe Maseen, in the play Joe’s Friendly. The play was the first performed at the Black Box Theater by the Bloomington Playwrights Project in 1984 and re-produced to celebrate the last play to be performed at the Black Box venue in September, 2005. His first Colorado performance was as Messer Nica in The Love Potion, a Machiavelli play produced by Spark Theatre.
