Part myth-making, part absurdist exercise, part political allegory and part youthful hell-raising, this story of three cowboys, who plot to steal the moon, is a wild and woolly one. A bit of Brecht, a pinch of Freud, a handful of surrealism and a cup of Marx Brothers craziness makes this a rich ethnic broth that’s politically piquant

Artistic Director Roger Winn was asked what attracted him to this play. In his reply he said, “Gwylym is talented artist with a unique voice. I chose this script because I am committed to the recognition of Denver playwrights and bringing local voices to the Spark stage. I also wanted Phil Luna to direct and felt this was a great piece for him to be associated with. This play is still fresh and enjoyable. The mix of slapstick and philosophical thought still elicits a reaction from me. The characters of Humphrey, Gezebell, and Dogwould are wonderful guides through this crazy magical story and I know our audience will fall in love with them.”

The year after graduating from Yale Gwylym Cano made “one of the best Chicano films of all time,” a micro budget feature called El Corrido de Cherry Creek. Numerous shorts and two more features follow. His new film Athen Zapball is available on Vimeo On Demand. His poetry can be found in the Latino anthologies “Red, Hot Salsa” and “Voices in First Person.” His plays have been produced at the Denver Civic Theater, the Crossroads Theater, the Yale Dramat and El Centro Su Teatro. Cano does residencies in digital media and teaches digital video at Colorado Academy. He is also a Forum Theater expert.
